ARVIN, Kern County — October 26, 2026. Residents of the city of Arvin will decide Measure H in the November 3 election. The proposal would establish an additional 1% local transactions and use tax — one cent per taxable dollar — projected to bring about $2.35 million in annual revenue for city services.
What Arvin officials say it could fund
Examples on the ballot include police patrols, the city’s fire-service contract with Kern County, emergency response, road and street maintenance, public parks and activities for youth and older residents. Arvin’s budget documents identify police, contracted fire response and other public facilities as major spending areas. But Measure H is a general tax, and its passage would not guarantee an exact allocation to any single listed service.
Duration and financial oversight
The city says the measure has no automatic expiration date and would continue until ended by voters. An approval requires a simple majority. The ordinance proposes independent annual audits, accounting for receipts and expenditures and public presentation of the report.
The choices on Election Day
A yes vote would enact the local tax; a no vote would leave this new tax unapproved. The estimated $2.35 million is an annual projection, not guaranteed receipts or a new award of money already in the city’s bank account.
